Bio: JAYSOUL — Cleveland, Ohio, USA (A Book Called Galanta • Whiskey Pickle Records • Henchman3 Productions • Portsmouth Underground) Jason Johnson, known as Jaysoul, is a veteran DJ, producer, promoter, graphic artist, radio host, and community builder with over three decades dedicated to underground dance music. Raised in New England during the rise of the East Coast electronic movement, he was shaped by a culture of passion and community. His greatest influence, DJ Jackmaster Flash—founder of A Book Called Galanta—instilled in him the values of musical storytelling, technical skill, and nurturing the underground scene. Inspired by crews such as Galanta, K.C. and the Sunrise Gang, Primary, and The Warped Crew, Jaysoul developed a style rooted in deep house, disco, acid, soulful grooves, and underground traditions. From early house parties to national events, he built a reputation as a versatile selector, sharing stages with artists including Terry Mullan, DJ Dan, Dubtribe Sound System, Andrew Emil, Scott Diaz, and Sleepy C. After moving to the Midwest, he released his first full-length album, Spiritual Elevation, with longtime collaborator Mr. Smith, and further honed his production skills as a founding member of Frameshift Recordings (2000–2003). A later move to Austin, Texas placed him in one of the country’s most vibrant house music communities. Long-term residencies at Karma Lounge and The Cockpit helped refine the deep, groove-driven sound that defines his sets. In Austin, he reunited with Adam Warped, leading to the creation of Whiskey Pickle Records, a respected label in leftfield disco, nu‑disco, and underground house. The label has featured artists such as Homero Espinosa, Jason Merle, P‑Rez, Blue Soul, and Chicken Lips, expanding Jaysoul’s international reach and reinforcing his commitment to quality underground music. Today, Jaysoul continues to champion underground dance culture through DJing, production, creative consulting, graphic design, and radio programming. His work with Whiskey Pickle Records, Henchman3 Productions, and Portsmouth Underground Radio reflects his ongoing dedication to community, creativity, and the deep, soulful sound that has defined his career
